Well Child Visits

Every stage of childhood deserves a dedicated space for care—from the milestone victories throughout infancy to the big transitions of the teenage years. These visits are an opportunity to monitor growth, discuss development, and ensure your child has everything they need to thrive.

About Our Appointments

Well child visits at Parkside Pediatrics are unhurried, comprehensive, and tailored to your child’s specific age and stage. Our doctors follow the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) schedule to ensure we are catching every milestone and protecting your child’s long-term health.

The First Year:

Frequent visits (starting days after birth) to monitor feeding and growth, track milestones, and support the whole family’s well-being.

Early Childhood:

Visits at 12, 15, 18, and 24 months to support brain development, track early language skills, and navigate the transition into toddlerhood.

Ages 3 to 18:

Annual check-ups throughout childhood and adolescence to track physical health, emotional well-being, and school readiness.

During these visits, we focus on the details that matter most to your family. We conduct a thorough physical exam, discuss social and emotional development, and provide a dedicated space for you to ask questions about nutrition, sleep, and behavior. Whether we are administering immunizations or navigating a complex developmental transition, our goal is to support and inform you at every step.

A Partner in Your Child’s Health Journey

We believe that every child deserves a medical home that understands their unique story. Parkside Pediatrics is here to support families navigating more intricate medical or developmental paths, providing the intentional care coordination and partnership needed to help every child thrive.

Well Child Visit FAQs

Why are routine visits necessary for healthy children?

Regular well child visits allow us to focus on the “big picture.” By tracking trends in growth and development over time, we can provide proactive guidance and identify potential health or developmental concerns early.

How far in advance should I book a well child visit?

Because our clinic’s schedule fills up quickly, we recommend booking your child’s next appointment as you check out from your current visit (especially during your child’s first year and early childhood stages).

Are vaccines required at these visits?

Parkside Pediatrics believes in the safety and effectiveness of vaccines to protect your child and our community. Our clinic follows the AAP immunization schedule and requires our patients to receive all vaccinations protecting them from highly contagious diseases, outlined in our vaccine policy. We are happy to discuss any questions you have during the visit.

Can I discuss a specific “sick” concern during a well visit?

While we focus on overall wellness during these visits, we know concerns can pop up. If a specific sick concern arises during a wellness visit, we can often address it during the exam. However, if your child has a new illness or a complex concern that requires a deeper diagnostic dive, we may ask you to schedule a separate sick visit, or you may be charged an additional sick visit co-pay in addition to your wellness check. This ensures we have the dedicated time needed to give that specific issue our full, unhurried attention.
